I have finally made it to the V&A today to admire the most unusual fine fabric: silk made by spiders! It took three years and over a million spiders to make enough silk for this beautiful cape. The cape is made entirely of the undyed silk of the golden silk orb-weaver Nephila madagascariensis (spiders from Madagascar). What stunning golden colour, the cape is a true work of art. But would you wear silk lingerie made by these wonderful spiders?

As long as you could guarantee that there were no stray spiders hanging around, and I’m not sure the yellow would suit me either.
Yes this yellow gold colour doesn’t suit everyone! I wonder though if spider silk would look as shiny when dyed in other colours. Certainly it would be the most rare and expensive silk lingerie!
