Long day today running from one meeting to another in my new heels! That made me think of the best piece of advice I ever got regarding new shoes from the amazing Jimmy Choo himself. I met Jimmy through my ex boss, at the time I was working at Chinawhite and rocking London’s nightlife. My ex boss, Jimmy and I went together to many events of the Social Calendar and it was always great to be able to talk about Fashion and shoes!
So here we go, here is Jimmy’s little secret revealed:
Wax the inside of your new shoes with a candle before wearing them, that will soften the leather and protect your precious little feet.
It works like a charm every time. Please do try it and say goodbye to sore feet.

Since we are talking fashion advice… if I were to commit the sin of putting silk into the washing machine, which is more important, low temperature or gentle spin? Or both… Or will you disown me for even suggesting the washing machine….?
Silk is a natural and very resistant fabric so washing machine would be fine
The silk thread is actually extracted from the cocoon by boiling it! However because silk has been dyed, you want to protect its shine and colour, so as you mentioned use a program with both low temperature and gentle spin, a wool or silk program will work well at 30°. Use a mild detergent, something specific for silk and/or wool. This works well for silk items without trims, however do not use the washing machine if the garment also contains lace. Hope that will help, happy washing!
